How can I get the big,
new AAAlmanac each day for free?

If you have arrived here to check out the AAA,
the sad news is that I'm taking no more subscriptions.
The AAA will expire at the end of the subscription period,
namely, June 30, 2003.
Current subs will be honoured, of course.
Pip

Dear reader

Now there are two Almanacs

1) Almanac lite

Each day, free-optional subscribers get a compact-sized Almanac (still called Wilson's Almanac); few kilobytes for fast download, text only. Optional supporting donations are still invited for this Almy: read more. The motto of the lite Almanac is "If need be, read free'. That is, if you can support it, then please do so. The Almanacs are how I earn my living.

It has at least one fascinating item related to that day, such as a celebration from an ancient culture, maybe something inspiring that happened on that day. You can view archives and join here or click to send a blank email to WilsonsAlmanac-subscribe@yahoogroups.com -- no conditions apply.

2) AAAlmanac

AAA -- the mega-Almanac -- belongs to readers who wish to support the entire work: the research, writing, inspiring and conspiring that makes the Almy the unique daily shot of hope that thousands have come to look forward to reading 365 days of the year. These subscribers may be seen as my patrons, so it is my duty to produce my best work just for them.

Come and join the hope fiends, men and women from every continent. We have fun and make a mark on this planet. You can click to join here or click to send a blank email to aaalmanac-subscribe@yahoogroups.com . Before joining, though, please read the few conditions below.

In the AAAlmanac, Almaniacs enjoy a mix of:

Readers tell me the regular, mini-Almanac is good, but the AAA is really something -- a handcrafted piece of work like few ezines on the Internet! Lots of hope and inspiration in a world gone nutz.

I've done a complete redesign, too. It's more of a surprise, with a different mix of some of the above features each day. Ask me to email a free sample copy, if you can handle up to 800kb.

How can I get
'abetter' Almanac?

Glad you asked. There are two ways to upgrade your subscription to 'abetter' Almanac:

1) A paid subscription is 26 US dollars for the half year*. That's only one dollar per week, or less than 15 cents a day. As it costs me $10.50 to bank an overseas cheque, only Australian readers may pay by cheque or postal order. Overseas readers may pay on this page by PayPal

To join, go to http://groups.yahoo.com/aaalmanac, sign up now and wait a while. When I get receive your payment I will approve your membership. If you envisage a delay, just write to me and ask me to sign you up before I receive your subscription payment. I'm happy to.

I will also accept International Postage Coupons. My mail address is below.

Or

2) A trust-swap (barter) of goods or services is also acceptable. Services could be many things according to your skills, such as research or design, but might include something to promote Almanac circulation. For example, you might offer to send an appropriate number of Almanacs to reviewers or webmasters. Maybe you could commit to forwarding a certain number of Almanacs to people with a recommendation to subscribe. You might be able to get the Almanac listed in an online directory, or linked/reviewed on a major website. You might even like to help add to the Almanac's database with some research, online or off. I have plenty of ideas that could use some friendly energy. Make me an offer or ask me what chores I have in mind. (Trust-swaps might be for a limited period. I'll see how it goes.)

To join, go to http://groups.yahoo.com/aaalmanac and sign up now. When we have a trust-swap agreed, I will approve your membership. I post my own Almy needs at Ongo-Bongo so you can get some ideas there.

An Aussie boomerang with every new paid subscription

A free Aussie boomerang with every new paid sub!
You can take me up on my free subscription offer, or you can take a paid subscription (13 cents a day for the mega-Almanac) and I will mail you a genuine returning boomerang, made here in A
ustralia.
The boomerang is made of wood and has an Australian native animals design. It was not hand-carved by Aboriginal people, as those boomerangs are generally hard to obtain and consequently much too costly for this offer. However, if you don't like it and decide to throw it away, you won't be able to. It makes a great gift for a young friend or family member.
Take out a subscription to AAA on this page, and don't forget to include your postal address. Please tell me if you want the boomerang, as I don't automatically send them unless requested. There is space in the PayPal order form for your request. Click here to go to my PayPal form.
This offer is available to first-time subscribers only, one per member, for a paid subscription ($26). Allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.

* The half year: what it means

Wilson's Almanac is almost entirely a one-man band, and I am an  imaginician, not a bookkeeper. I have no skills in that field, and naturally I don't wish to subtract work time from my vocation.  My 100-hour weeks of research and writing, etc, are long enough. Less paperwork for Wilson means much better Almanacs for you.

So, I've organised subscriptions so that I only have to do my books and send out renewal notices twice a year.

'Half year' means this: If you subscribe at any time in the first half of the year, your subscription will be due for renewal on June 30. If you subscribe at any time in the second half of the year, on December 31 I'll remind you your sub is up and ask you to resub.

Of course, this means you  will thus get more A&A Almanacs for your dollar by subscribing earlier in the half-year, but you're entirely free to make your own choice as to when to subscribe.
